What we handle

Seven ways we help hurt West Virginians

Personal injury cases only. Across all 55 West Virginia counties. We do not do divorces, we do not do closings, and we do not dabble. Injury cases are the work.

Car accidents

From fender-benders to highway wrecks. We deal with the insurance company so you do not have to.

Truck accidents

Tractor-trailer and commercial wrecks need fast action to preserve evidence. We move fast.

Motorcycle accidents

Riders face bias from insurance companies. We do not share it, and we say so plainly.

Slip, trip and fall

Hurt on someone else's property? Owners have rules to follow - when they do not, you have rights.

Medical malpractice

When doctors and hospitals miss what they should not have missed, the results can change a life.

Nursing home neglect

When the people paid to look after your family member do not do it.

Wrongful death

When negligence takes someone you love, the law gives the family a way to demand answers.

Just hurt?

Start here.

The first couple of days matter more than most people realize.

  1. Get checked by a medical professional.

Even if you feel alright. Some injuries take days to show up, and a gap in treatment gets used against you later.

  2. Photograph everything.

The scene, the vehicles, the road, anything you can see on you. Memory fades. Photos don't.

  3. Get the insurance details and the crash report.

The other driver's insurance, your copy of the report, and the names of anyone who saw it.

  4. Do not give a recorded statement.

Not to the other side's insurer, and not before you have spoken to a lawyer. This is the mistake we see most.

  5. Write down what changes.

Sleep, mood, what you can lift, what you can no longer do at work. A short note each day is worth more later than you would think.

Why us

Built for West Virginia. Not from a call center.

A small firm that knows the state and shows up for the people who live in it.

Statewide reach.

We will review a case from anywhere in West Virginia. The ones we can handle, we take. The ones outside our work - a different practice area, a conflict, just not the right fit - we will work to find a good home for, not leave you stranded.

A real conversation.

When you call, you talk to a person who listens. We figure out what happened before we tell you what we can do. Some people who call do not have a case worth pursuing, and we tell them that straight rather than talking them into one. Others have a case and do not realize it. We tell those folks too.

Personal injury is the whole practice.

We do not do divorces, we do not do closings, and we do not dabble. The rules in this work are specific and unforgiving, and the insurance defense bar does it all day. So do we.

No fee unless we win.

Contingency fee. You pay no attorney fee up front, and no attorney fee at all unless we recover for you. Case costs - filing fees, records, expert witnesses - get explained in plain language before they are spent, and you are responsible for those if the case needs them. No surprises at the end.

Somebody answers the phone.

A real person, day or night. Our after-hours answering team takes the first call when the office is closed, gathers your details and gets them to us. After that you have one point of contact here who knows your case - the same person, not a rotating team.

What is at stake

What an injury claim can cover.

Every case is different. The categories are not.

Medical bills

Past treatment - the emergency department, hospital, surgery, imaging, follow-up - and the future care reasonably needed because of the injury. Hospital liens get negotiated and resolved as part of closing the case.

Lost wages

The time you missed, including used leave, light-duty pay differences and lost shifts. Documented through pay records, tax records and employer statements.

Lost earning capacity

When the injury stops you returning to the work you did. A different and usually larger category than short-term lost wages, and one that often needs vocational and economic testimony.

Pain and suffering

Non-economic damages for the physical pain, the mental strain and the loss of enjoyment of life caused by the injury.

Loss of consortium

A spouse's claim for the loss of companionship and services that follows a serious injury.

Prior results do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome in any future case. Every case is different, and the value of any case depends on its own facts.

Questions people ask

Do you really charge nothing unless you win?

There is no attorney fee unless we recover for you. You will still be responsible for case costs - filing fees, medical record fees, expert witnesses - if the case requires them. We explain those before they are spent.

How fast should I call after a wreck?

As soon as you can. Evidence disappears fast. Dashcam footage gets recorded over, witnesses move on, vehicles get repaired or scrapped. The insurance company starts working their side from minute one.

Do you handle cases in my county?

All 55. We are not restricted to one corner of the state. If you were hurt anywhere in West Virginia, call and tell us what happened.

What if I'm not sure I have a case?

That is exactly when to call. The case review costs you nothing. We will either tell you we think it is worth pursuing or tell you why it isn't. Either way you will know more than you do now.

What if I was hurt outside West Virginia?

Our attorney is admitted in West Virginia. If your injury happened in another state, tell us at the first call - we will say so right away rather than letting you assume otherwise, and we will try to point you toward someone who can act where it happened.

The Bubba promise
